  • The bike arrives in a box. The handlebars, front wheel, front mudguard, pedals and saddle must be attached.
  • You will need a multi-tool or hex key set, 10mm spanner, 15mm wrench, scissors, pliers, a screwdriver and a pump.

Some things to note:

  • If you assemble your own bike, it’s very important that you do it correctly. If you have doubts, pay your local bike mechanic to check over your handiwork or assemble it for you.
  • In the first few weeks of use, you can expect your bike to ‘bed-in’. You must check everything is tight before each ride. Cables will stretch so your gears and brakes will need adjustment.

Finding the correct size bike starts with measuring the legs. Take a measuring tape, place it on the floor inside the leg and measure upwards. Now check the chart below.

Gearing Explained

The Birdie step-through bicycle has a single gear shifter, numbered 1-7. Number 7 is a fast gear. Use this on a good day / if you are late. Number 1 is the easiest gear. Use this if you encounter a horribly steep hill. Don't use it on flat roads. Your legs will spin furiously and it will take ages!

Yes, you can. We have many Bobbin riders using child seats. We recommend you buy a child seat with an integral rear carrier rack and visit a local bike shop to have this fitted to your bike so you can be sure it is fitted correctly. We can't guarantee our bikes are compatible with every child seat brand or mounting system.
