15 Child-Friendly Bike Rides In Gloucestershire

Providing you with gorgeous views and plenty of history, Gloucestershire is perfect for families on a cycling trip so grab your bike and head off to this wonderful part of the country.

Cotswold Country Park circular route -This is an 8-mile ride on quiet lanes. You’ll be starting in the Cotswold Country Park near Cirencester which is generally labelled the ‘Capital of Gloucestershire’.

The Stroud Valley Cycle Trail - If you’re looking for a simple route with plenty of history then this is ideal. Here, you’ll find a  5-mile traffic-free trail placed on a converted railway line

The Gloucester & Sharpness Canal - This 13-mile long path is mostly canal side meaning you’re going to be provided with some great views of water during the summer sun!

The Forest of Dean Family Trail - This 9 mile long route is placed upon converted mining tracks in the Forest of Dean, so if you’re wanting somewhere with plenty of history then this is the spot for you.

Bourton-on-the-Water Loop - This gentle route is around 14 miles long and provides a great space for family bike rides in a gorgeous village.

FlyUp 417 Bike Park near Gloucester - This spot is based on Crickley Hill and has downhill trails for all levels of ability. There’s even a dedicated kids trail!

Wild Carrot near Tetbury - If you’re without a bike then don’t fret! This location is great for bike hire as well as cycling past some incredible views with your family.

Miserden Estate near Stroud - If stunning views and breathtaking scenery is your thing then look no further, this spot offers cyclists to ride along its public bridleways and experience all there is!

Pittville Park in Cheltenham - This spot is great for letting kids loose on their bikes with flat surfaces and paved paths surrounded by a vast amount of greenery.

Cotswold Water Park - This location also offers on-site bike hire including adult bikes and kids bikes for anyone wanting to partake without a bike. Here, you’ll find various flat and paved routes making it great for young kids. Don't forget your bike helmets!

Gravel climb Loop from Upper Lydbrook - This loop is great if you’re looking for a short journey. The paths are uneven so try an electric bike or mountain bike here. It’s 10 miles long and would take you 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.

Foxes Bridge Cemetery Loop from Parkend - If you’re looking for a short route then this is ideal. It’s 13 miles long and would take you 1 hour 30 minutes to complete.

Foxes Bridge Cemetery Loop from Mile End - This is a very similar route to that of the one above. This one is 13 miles long and would take you 2 hours to complete. It’s mostly paved, so great for kids! Lightweight bikes are also a great choice here.

Broadwell Dips Loop from Upper Lydbrook - This trail is on the difficult side, it’s 21 miles long and would take you 3 hours to complete.

Gravel climb Loop from Rookwood - If you’re looking for a route with plenty of stops then this is perfect. It’s 19 miles long and would take you 3 hours to complete.
